Haiti - Reconstruction : New town hall in Bainet

The Bainet municipal administration (Southeast), who works in prefabricated premises offered by MINUSTAH since the destruction of administrative offices, by the January 2010 earthquake, has recently inaugurated a brand new town hall funded by the Minustah, to the tune of 4 million gourdes, as part of its mandate to support national institutions.

The new building with an area of 189 m2 consists of a large meeting room, a reception area, two offices for mayors, a direction, a tax room, a warehouse, two toilets and three waiting galleries. It was designed and executed by the Expertise Office in Environment, Construction and Hydraulic Structures Armed Concrete (BEECOHBA).

"By funding this project, the Minustah wishes to strengthen the capacity of the municipality of Bainet to provide quality services to the population, while improving employee working conditions and giving the community a building that meets the seismic standards, where employees will work there in peace of mind," declared Mr. Boutchue, Acting Head of Civil Affairs of MINUSTAH.

"After the earthquake, all public institutions of our community were working in the public square of downtown. Today, it is with pride that we receive the keys of the new building which now houses our town hall," declared Bénito Léonard, Executive Officer of Bainet, warmly thanking the Minustah for its various supports to their community.
