Haiti - Politic : One more step towards the identification of citizens at birth

Following the first working meeting on the problem of unique identification in Haiti, held November 6, 2015 with stakeholders, followed by the announcement on December 14 by Jean-Baptiste St-Cyr, Director of the Office national Identification (ONI) of the establishment soon of an identification system at birth, under the existing Plan Director on the national Identification and Civil Registry Program https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16063-haiti-politic-oni-announced-an-identification-program-at-birth.html ; the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH), facilitated a new working meeting to identify concrete steps that should lead to the establishment of the process of identification of citizens at birth.

Have participated in this meeting among others include: the National Identification Office (ONI), the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Information (IHSI), the National Archives of Haiti (ANH), the US Agency for international Development (USAID) and several executives of the OMRH.

As a next step, in January 2016 an action plan, accompanied by a budget will be finalized for discussion with the sectors concerned at national and international donors interested in this priority issue for the Government, as part of the implementation of the ongoing reforms.
