Haiti - Training : Launching of the project «Competence for youth employment»

This Tuesday at the Hotel Karibe, at the invitation of Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, the actors of the public and private sector, workers, technical and financial partners in this sector meet to exchange experiences and good practice in vocational training.



This event organized by the National Institute of Professional Training (INFP) in partnership with the Belgian Cooperation will allow the Minister Manigat to present the draft law on the reform of Vocational Training.



This will also be the occasion to officially launch the project « Competence for youth employment » financed by the French Development Agency (AFD). This project will focus its activites in the Vocational Training Centre located near the Industrial Park of Port-au-Prince.



With a budget of 5 million euros over 4 years this project provides:


  • The creation of a training branch, specialized for water, in partnership with the National Directorate of Potable Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) ;


  • The upgrade of the Pilot Centre, as a reference center in favor of youth integration and development of entrepreneurship, in partnership with the International Labour Office (ILO) ;


  • Support for the modernization of the INFP and sustainable transfer of skills to its teams, with substantial assistance component to the project owner.



The operational approach of the project, focused on a Centre, aims rapid and visible impacts. It prepares for the future by training young Haitians and by strengthening administration capacities while coordinating actions with other development partners.



This day will also be the opportunity to present international interest models for Haiti (experiences of public-private partnerships in vocational training, agricultural and rural training worldwide) and discuss with stakeholders interested in the sector, of options for sustainable funding of vocational training in Haiti and skills needs of the private sector.
