Haiti - Jacmel : Inauguration of new headquarters of the Ministry of Culture

Friday, Ms Dithny Joan Raton, Minister of Culture,

in the presence among others of Mayor of Jacmel, Nickson Francis, the Departmental Director of the Ministry, Michelet Divers and Directors General of the Ministry, Jean Michel Lapin and National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN), Patrick Durandis proceeded to the inauguration of the new premises of the Departmental Office of the Ministry of Culture in Jacmel (Southeast department).

Located on the rue du Commerce, in a historic home built in 1888 by Charles Clifford Moravia, one of the most famous entrepreneurs of the time, this new space with an area of 290m2 houses the offices of ISPAN and the Departmental Directorate of Culture.

"By equipping the Departmental Directorate of this major infrastructure, the Government wants to emphasize to local populations, the importance of culture as a vector of sustainable development," has emphasized the Minister Raton, in her intervention.

Note that before the development of these premises, the Departmental Directorate of Culture was housed in the Municipal Library of Jacmel where it was cohabiting with the National Archives and ISPAN...
