Haiti - Education : Start of the distribution of 70,549 Provisional Teaching Permit

In accordance with its commitments to deliver to all teachers a Provisional Teaching Permit (EPP), the Ministry of National Education released the list of teachers by Departmental Directorate of Education (DDE) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14535-haiti-education-list-of-teachers-with-a-provisional-teaching-permit.html having a PPE.

Spread across the country, they are in total 70,549 teachers, whose 56,473 in the private and 14,076 in the public.

The distribution process started in the Nippes and will continue soon in other DDE. The teachers concerned took part in the census of September 2014 which helped to constitute a National Register of teachers.

The PPE is an essential tool for the upgrading of the teaching profession because, now without this permit, a person cannot exercise the teaching profession.

This new provision is part of the actions undertaken within the framework of the current reform for the improvement of education quality and governance of the system. The Presidential Decree of 2 September 2014 regarding the 12 measures in Articles 1 and 2, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11781-haiti-education-exam-results-disappointing-the-minister-manigat-announced-a-package-of-measures.html establishes the conditions for granting the PPE and the Teaching Permit (PE).

While waiting to obtain a PE, the teacher who participated in the census by completing the form concerning the exercise of their profession, is entitled to a PPE, valid for two years. During this period, the teacher will work to fulfill the conditions empowering it to obtain its PE.

In other words, the PPE or "Provisional Teaching Permit" is an exceptional notice of conditional eligibility issued to any active teacher in the classroom identified during the census of 26 September 2014. It is issued by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP). The PPE holder must follow the certification process enabling it to be entitled, after analysis of its case, to the type of Teaching Permit (EP) aapted to its profile..

A teacher holding a PPE is automatically eligible for obtaining the Education Advantage Card giving access to several privileges https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14689-haiti-education-signing-of-an-agreement-with-partners-of-the-education-advantage-card.html

Also, let's recall that Monday, September 7, 2015 is the date of the back to school for the new academic year 2015-2016.
