In Petit-Goâve a candidate announces his defeat

Sunday at the micro of Radio Préférence FM, Jean Frederic Beneche, the candidate of the Party "Renmen Ayiti", recognized his defeated to the first round of legislative elections in Petit Goâve "I acknowledge that I have lost the election. The population of Petit-Goâve rejected me and my project. I accept the verdict of the polls and I take note. Good luck to Petit-Goâve and I thank my team, the executive board of the party Renmen Ayiti and all those who supported me [...] According to the first count I am almost certain that there will be no second round in Petit-Goâve, because there is a candidate who is about to win the election in the first round. UNIR denounced the electoral process of Sunday

On Sunday, the National Union for the Integrity and Reconciliation (UNIR) denounced "In many constituencies the vote could not be held or was interrupted by armed groups, sometimes accompanied by candidates. In the Grande Anse for example, an electoral adviser denounced namely two political parties, responsible for the non-holding of the poll in the city of Jérémie [...] We denounce the ballot stuffing and confusion that reigned in voting centers where most representatives were excluded, except those of political parties close to power," adding that UNIR "reserves the right to contest the election results in all constituencies where its candidates were in a favorable position."

Preliminary assessment of OCID, very mixed

Sunday, the Citizen Observatory for Institutionalizing Democracy (OICD) gave an initial assessment stressing in particular that "The electoral process began, in a manner more or less acceptable for the 1,273 polling stations considered and distributed throughout the territory [...] At 9:25 am 97.9% of the country's polling stations were open. Office materials were available in 91.7% and electoral documents in 78%, through the various voting centers [...] Political parties have had a more or less significant representation, despite delays in the delivery of mandates to political parties."
