The Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Haiti, announced Wednesday, the grant of an aid of 14.5 million euros (20 million) to Haiti. This assistance is part of a European program for strengthening the Haitian civil protection under the promises of 1.6 billion euros for the reconstruction of Haiti. This program aims to prevent, manage and overcome crisis situations resulting from natural disasters to which Haiti is particularly vulnerable.

Over a period of 18 months, the project, was approved by the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC), focuses on improving the ability of people to respond to disasters through better equipment and better preparation for emergency relief. It also aims to increase the capacity of the Haitian crisis management with institutions such as the Ministry of Interior and territorial collectivities, Justice, and with international partners.
