Haiti - Security : Accident in DR, 14 Haitians injured
14 Haitians including some without papers, who came from Batey Libertad (municipality of Esperanza, Valverde), were injured after the Nissan Frontier pickup, which was carrying them to a banana plantation, in the district of Hatillo Palma, municipality of Villa Vasquez (Montecristi province), has spilled.
According to the police report, the driver of the pickup Jeisse Corniel (25) lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve in the sector "Línea A" of the Community Maizal, Esperanza.
One of the injured Johnny Pierre, 50, was taken to the Jose Maria Cabral y Báez Regional Hospital (Santiago), due to the severity of his condition. The other passengers suffered multiple fractures in various parts of the body. At least 6 Haitians were treated at the Municipal hospital in Esperanza.
Haitians victims of this accident, said they were coming into the Dominican Republic three days earlier through the border of Dajabon.
