Haiti - Security : The airport Toussaint Louverture, one more step into modernity

Wednesday, under the Project to support the mobilization of Tax Revenue (PAMRF), the Canadian Embassy in Port-au-Prince, in the presence of Ambassador of Canada accredited to Port-au-Prince, Paula Caldwell and Victor Hugo St-Louis, the Director General of Customs, proceeded during a ceremony at the inauguration of the first 4 luggage scanners (on 7) at the arrival hall of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

The donation of equipment, which was previously in use at the Canadian customs (a replacement value of more than $ 2 million each), is a step in modernity and their use will allow a gain of time for passengers, in control of their luggage and detecting potential firearms or prohibited goods. 18 officers were trained in the use and maintenance of these scanners, said Victor Hugo in St. Louis.

This is the second time Canada made a donation of equipment for airports in Haiti.
