Haiti - Social : Jacmel Fest...

If the Feast of Agriculture and Labour has been celebrated everywhere across the country this year, in Jacmel the 1st of May took place especially, since the city also celebrated its patron saints St. Jacques and St. Philip.

As early as Thursday, the Ministries of Culture and Agriculture undertook on the tourist Port a large agro-Craft Fair where many craftsmen and professionals of Agricultural sectors have exhibited their works. The opening of this fair was embellished with a mini concert of music offered by the children of the National Institute of Music (INAMUH) led by Raoul Denis Jr.

In the multipurpose room of Lamandou, his eminence, Cardinal Chibly Langlois, celebrated on May 1st, the Mass of the Feast of the city of Alcibiades Pommayrac which was followed by a Te Deum to which several dignitaries of the city, official Member of the Government and the private sector took part.

Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture, who was returning from the official ceremonies celebrating May 1 in Port-au-Prince, toured the exhibition at the tourist port to encourage craftsmen exhibitors.

During these days of festivities, cultural activities have not failed to Jacmel youth, nor the thousands of visitors from all over the country. Between exhibitions, festivals, entertainment evenings and balls, the crowd was important both in Pétion-Bolivar boulevard, the tourist port on the town square where the 9th edition of the Festi-Paris Festival was held.
