Haiti - Culture : Participation of Haiti to the Francophonie Week in Mexico

The celebration of Francophonie Week in Mexico, which runs from March 12 to 22, 2015, has, this year, a special character because Mexico has just joined the organization of the Francophonie as an observer. Many activities focused on culture are planned with the participation of French-speaking countries present in Mexico, through their embassies.

Beyond the tradition to be present at these events, it is a pride for Haiti to mark its presence at this Francophonie Week "At the embassy, despite our limited resources, we strive to participate actively to the event in order to perpetuate the strong image of our country within the Francophonie," declared the Ambassador of Haiti in Mexico, Guy Lamothe, who delivered a lecture on Thursday at Westhill University of Santa Fe before students graduating in International Relations on the contribution of Haiti to the Francophonie.

Recall that last Thursday at the French Alliance of San Angel, Ambassador Lamothe also performed at the opening of the exhibition "Pintores del callejon" that showcases paintings of unknown Haitian painters who learned the art in the street. Presenting Haiti as the scene of a passion for painting, Ambassador to the opening Lamothe, cited the famous French author André Malraux according to which "a people of artist lives Haiti."

Musically, the group "Jazz Infuzion" composed of Mexican and Haitian, will perform in a show that will bring together multiple groups on Sunday 22 March. In addition, a screening of the feature film "Toussaint Louverture" is scheduled at the French Alliance of Polanco, Tuesday, March 17.

Note that the coordination of the Francophonie Week 2015 in Mexico, is provided by the Québec Government.
