Haiti - Elections : Electoral Decree adopted, 19 more Deputies...
Monday, Lucien Jura, the presidency spokesman confirmed that the Electoral Decree, had been adopted the Council of Ministers Monday, March 2, 2015 and will be published the same day in the special issue #1 of the official newspaper "le Moniteur". With this decree, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), now has a legal framework for organizing legislative elections, presidential and of local authorities.
It is noted that the number of deputies in the decree, will pass in the 50th Legislature from 99 to 118. Lucien Jura that recognizes that this increase of 19 deputies will result in additional expenses, explained that it was necessary to have as Deputies than constituencies. The legislative elections will therefore focus on the election of 20 senators and 118 deputies.
The decree having been adopted and published, the Executive is now awaiting the electoral timetable of the CEP.
