Haiti - NOTICE : Special exhibition of photojournalist Daniel Morel

On January 12, 2010, photojournalist Daniel Morel was at Atis Rezistans in Port-au-Prince, taking photographs, when the earthquake struck Haiti at 4:53 p.m.. He captured a historic series of images in the streets of the capital, that document the raw reality of the ensuing devastation.

This January 12, 2015, at 4:53 p.m., exactly five years later, Daniel will launch his solo photo documentary exhibit entitled SONJE (Remember), at Atis Rezistans 622 Blvd. J.J. Dessalines [Grand Rue], Port-au-Prince.

The exhibit features Daniel’s remarkable photographs taken in Port-au-Prince before, during, and in the years following the earthquake. The exhibition includes several award-winning photos, and many powerful, never-before-seen images of the destruction. Special guests will include some of the iconic subjects whose images grace the photos.

The event will begin with a minute of silence, honoring those who tragically lost their lives in the quake.

Also January 16 at 4:00 p.m. Daniel will host a workshop to discuss copyright rules, and how artists can stop their work from being exploited during a crisis situation.
