Monday at the Primature, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, chaired an important working session around the cooperation of the Haitian state with the US Government. Among others participated in the meeting: Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, US Ambassador to Haiti Pamela White and local representatives of USAID.

Recall that the cooperation between the two Governments through USAID, focuses primarily on the development of growth sectors such as infrastructure and energy; education and health; accommodation and food security; support to the good economic governance and rule of law.

The portfolio review of the Haitian-American cooperation, especially allowed the identification of bottlenecks that hamper development projects. Discussions focused on the establishment of coordination and synergy mechanisms. This review will also enable the implementation of various commitments made by the two Governments.

"Thanks to the support of the US Government, our country is doing better. So we have decided to extend this successful cooperation and improving the framework to ensure the effectiveness of aid in achieving our priority projects which benefit so much to the population," stressed the Prime Minister.

For Ambassador White, "The discussions on the Haitian-American cooperation symbolize for us today, our will to go further, towards the future of the two countries."

This portfolio review is part of the Government's determination to ensure that the projects implemented in the country benefit to the greatest number. Recall that Haiti enjoys substantial support from the US Government, whose envelope is estimated at 795 million US dollars.
