Haiti - Elections : Laurent Lamothe speak up against the G6
Tuesday in New York, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12104-haiti-politic-prime-minister-lamothe-in-new-york.html Prime Minister Lamothe stated that if the amended electoral law was not ratified before the end of 2014, elections will be held in the first three months of 2015 "We will continue working to ensure that the elections take place as soon as possible [...]" recalling that to achieve the elections "there is a law in Parliament for more than 185 days, awaiting ratification by the Senate, where there are 6 senators extremists who block the vote, so that the elections are not held, we will talk about to the Assembly General of the UN, we will also talk about our determination to these elections [...]"
Recalling that these 6 senators, "that hold the country in hostage" will no longer have this power when their term comes to an end in mid-January 2015, however, the Prime Minister hoped that the Electoral Act be ratified before this deadline adding "[...] we need the support, solidarity, understanding of all Haitians, so they gather [...] for the elections to take place in the country, so that we do not let this small group of senators block 10 million Haitians in Haiti and 4 million abroad. We do not agree with that, we want to have an election..."
At home, the 6 Opposition Senators member of G6 Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé (Northeast), Jean-Charles Moïse (North), Francky Exius (South), Westner Polycarpe (North), John Joël Joseph (Ouest) and Jean William Jeanty (Nippes)], deny holding the country in hostage, claiming to be the defenders of respect of the Constitution...
