Haiti - Justice : J-B Aristide, summoned to court

A warrant signed by the investigating judge Lamarre Bélizaire summoned former President J-B Aristide to present this Wednesday, August 13 before the investigating judge "We order to Jean Bertrand Aristide charged of illicit drug trafficking, embezzlement of public funds, forfeiture and bribery, and money laundering to appear in our 'hotel of justice' August 13, 2014 at 10:00 am (local time) for questioning for acts imputed to him," states the mandate. Me Bélizaire also states that if J-B Aristide did not appear at this order of appearance, an arrest warrant will be issued against him.

However Me Mario Joseph, one of the lawyers of J-B Aristide, affirmed Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m., that he had not so far received a summons "I had asked the judge to send any mandate to my office. I'm at my office and I received nothing."

Moreover, Me Ira Kurzban, the American lawyer of the former president claims that no notification of ban of departure against his client was served https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11766-haiti-justice-travel-ban-for-aristide-who-is-right.html

Recall that the investigating judge Bélizaire, as part of this case, has heard several relatives of the former president and many others (banned from leaving the country) will be heard in the coming weeks.
