Haiti - Quebec : Donation of 128 bicycles

The Rehabilitation Centre Estrie, in collaboration with the charity Cyclo Nord-Sud, collected in its 11th edition, 128 unused bicycles in Sherbrooke and allowed volunteers to raise awareness of the benefits of cycling, in their reuse, and international solidarity.

These projects of donations of bicycles, are growing in Haiti after Caracol (380 bicycles) https://www.haitilibre.com/article-1054-haiti-quebec-380-bicyclettes-solidaires-pour-caracol.html (in french) and Limbé where more than 1,100 bicycles were sent, in addition to furniture, tools and machines needed to construct a school workshop https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7027-haiti-quebec-1000-bicycles-for-the-city-of-limbe.html , these 128 bicycles collected in Sherbrooke, will be shipped to Haiti, where the Congregation of the Fathers of the Holy Cross, in partnership with the organization "Carrefour d'Entraide des Retrouvailles du Cap-Haïtien" (CENTRECH) will make benefit members of their community. Since 2006, nearly 4,800 bikes were sent to that partner organization.

Note that these bicycles are sold to the families of students and teachers at low cost [to finance small workshops related to bicycles), to allow many young Haitians in remote rural areas to attend school on a regular basis , avoiding them to walk many miles each day to school.

Recall that Cyclo Nord-Sud, collects in Quebec : unused bicycles, parts, accessories as well as tools of all kinds, sewing machines etc... to ship them to the poor communities of the South countries, where they serve as a means of transportation and livelihood to fight against poverty.
