Haiti - Denationalization : Towards a Dominican diplomatic cons-offensive ?

The well-known Dominican lawyer, Me Vinicio Castillo Semán, Head of the National Progressive Force (FNP), asked the Dominican government "to counteract the slanderous offensive international deployed by the Haitian Chancellor Pierre Richard Casimir". According to him, the Haitian Chancellor disseminates false information, claiming that the Dominican Constitutional Court rendered stateless hundreds of thousands of citizens of Haitian origin.

Vinicio Castillo Semán protests before this statement, noting that "the Haitian chancellor knows the Article 11 of the Haitian Constitution, which states : Has the Haitian nationality of origin, any person born of a Haitian father or Haitian mother who are themselves born Haitians and have never renounced their nationality at the time of birth," stating that the Constitutional Court has removed none Dominican nationality to anyone, the persons concerned, having never legally acquired it...

He believes that "The Dominican government must take a more active role internationally facing the offensive of Haiti against the Dominican Republic "[...] It can not be passive or contemplative attitude. The insolent activity of the Haitian Chancellery must have an urgent response from the Government, the President Danilo Medina and the Dominican Chancellery."

A reaction, which could be explained by the fact that the Dominican Republic could be sanctioned under international convention, it is demonstrated that following the decision of the Constitutional Court on 23 September, the people involved in the process of revision will became stateless, while the question of the legality of the retroactivity of the decision since 1929, is a question to be decided solely by the internal Dominican law.
