Haiti - NOTICE : Application for U.S. immigrant visa, electronic transition

The Public Affairs Office of the Embassy of the United States in Haiti informs : "Effective September 1, 2013 the paper-based immigrant visa (IV) application will transition to an electronic application. The DS-260 and the DS-261 will replace the DS-230 and the DS-3032 respectively.

Preceding the IV interview at the U.S. Embassy :

Applicants submitting new cases on or after September 1 will need to complete the DS-260/261 instead of the DS-230/3032. If an applicant submits a DS-230, the National Visa Center (NVC) in the United States will instruct him or her to re-submit a DS-260.

At the U.S. Embassy :

Those filing petitions locally overseas (with either USCIS or a consular section) on or after September 1 must submit a DS-260.

For cases filed overseas before September 1, we will accept the paper based DS-230.

To apply for the DS-260 :

Go to https://ceac.state.gov/iv/

You must have :

Your NVC Case Number (refer to the message you received from NVC), Your Invoice I.D. number (refer to the message you received from NVC) or your date of birth (YYYYMMDD)

During the interview process :

The applicant’s fingerprints will be recorded instead of a written signature attesting to the oath administered prior to every immigrant visa interview.
