Haiti - Reconstruction : $13MM from Germany for Hydropower Plant of Péligre
As part of its bilateral cooperation with Haiti, on the Rehabilitation of Hydroelectric Plant of Péligre, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany is committed to continue the joint program and increase the amount already granted, of €10MM additional Euros (± $13MM). Germany, through the rehabilitation project of the Hydropower Plant of Péligre, continues its cooperation by working closely with the Haitian government.
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany recalled that a contract had been signed on 24 February 2011 with the Ministry of Finance for an amount of about €10MM. This funding was intended not only for the rehabilitation of the hydroelectric system of Péligre, but also for the rehabilitation of power cables from Péligre to Port-au-Prince to deliver electricity to the capital.
