Haiti - Reconstruction : Japan financed 4 new projects

Wednesday, Kenji Kuratomi, the Japanese Ambassador in Haiti, as part of the program "Assistance in the form of donations to the Micro-Local Projects contributing to the Human Security" APL of the Japanese Government, has signed 4 contracts with of Haitian organizations in the sector of education, health and food security.

Education Sector :

1 - Contract for the construction of the School Notre-Dame-du-Saint-Esprit to Hinche, funded to the tune of U.S. $ 145.391. The project was initiated by Sister Josette Augustine, Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, will allow the construction of six classrooms, meeting the standards.

2 - Contracts of construction of a community school Diribou in the town of Estère, funded to the tune of 120.715 dollarsit will help improve the quality of education throughout the area, according Belony Pierre, coordinator of "Mouvman peyizan pou lavansman Lakwa zon Diribou" (MPAKD).

Food sector :

3 - Contract to modernize the dairy of Bon Repos funded to the tune of 123.177 dollars, signed with Vétérimed, it will contribute not only to transfer skills on dairy technology, but also to improve the production of derivatives, such among other things, yogurt, cheese, sterilized milk...

Health sector :

4 - Contracts of construction of a health center in Artibonite, funded to the tune of 119.846 dollars, it will improve medical coverage of deliveries in rural areas, especially among the population living in remote areas and contribute to reduce maternal mortality in Montrouis.

According to Ambassador Kenji Kuratomi "[...] These projects will ensure the long-term, by their multiplier effects on socio-economic development of each of the areas.Be assured that Japan will continue to support efforts to improve the living conditions of your society through our program APL."
