This Thursday morning [9:30], the Government and the legislative body will proceed formally to the laying of the foundation stone and the launch of construction of a new Legislative Building, to house the Haitian Parliament.

The ceremony will take place on the former site of the Parliament [avenue Marie jeanne at Bicentenaire] in the presence of Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe of Dieuseul Simon Desras, President of the Senate, Levaillant Louis-Jeune, President of the Lower House, members of the Government and representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps.

The new Parliament, whose costs are estimated at 33-34 million, is part of the vision of the Administration Martelly-Lamothe to provide the country with modern public buildings, to strengthen the republican institutions and restore the image of the state.
