Haiti - Training : Construction of 5 new Vocational Training Centres

Tuesday, during a press conference Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), accompanied by Ms. Marina Gourgue, Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Ms. Margareth Beaulière, Director General of the National Institute for Vocational Training (INFP), said that the government was determined to go towards a policy of technical and vocational training "We want by 2030 that Haiti became an emerging country." In this perspective, a forum on vocational training will be organized at the Karibe Convention Center, Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 "The decision to create professional and technical centers across the country, was taken by the President Martelly in December 2011 and the implementation of various projects from national and international resources, attest of this political will," declared the Minister.

For her part, Marina Gourgue, Secretary of State for Vocational Training, estimated that a national policy of vocational training sector was necessary and stressed on the importance that the education provided, be of quality, to his end, has announced the forthcoming publication of a list of schools recognized by the Government, so that the parents do not use schools who do not meet standards.

Ms. Gourge also announced the construction of five new cVocational centers in Miragoâne, Mirebalais, Milot, Côtes-de-Fer and Petion-ville, which will be funded to the tune of about 5 million U.S. dollars, from the funds of the Treasury.

Concerning the centers that do not meet standards, Margareth Beaulière, specified "We will not proceed with the closure of schools, except in extreme cases, by cons, we support and encourage the Directors to operate according to the standards and principles of the INFP and of MENFP [...] We have a accreditation policy with the Private centers of Vocational Training [...] and we want to give the country a code of law, so that everyone have a common approach," convinced, that the vocational training should be standardized across the country.
