Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Launch of the Higher Technical Education Center

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the conclusion of his official mission to the South, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé launched the Higher Technical Education Center (CEST) in Petit-Goâve.

The ceremony, held at the Faustin Soulouque High School, was attended by Vijonet Déméro, Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, members of the Government, municipal and judicial authorities, representatives of the Public University of the West (UPO) and the Public University of the South in Les Cayes (UPSAC), as well as members of civil society.

In his address, Minister Vijonet Déméro emphasized that the implementation of the CEST aligns with the Government's priorities of providing young people with training and vocational apprenticeship opportunities. Several disciplines will be taught there, including management and finance.

According to Déméro, the CEST is an extension of the Center for Basic Education Training (CFEF), of the National School of Applied Geology (ENGA), and the National Higher School of Technology (ENST).

For his part, the Prime Minister welcomed the establishment of the CEST for the benefit of young people in the Palmes region, recalling that investing in education is a national duty. "When we train a young person, when we teach a young person a trade, we don’t just give them a fish, we teach them to fish," he declared.

He also emphasized the importance of youth participation in civic life and the strengthening of democratic institutions. "Register, participate, and choose because tomorrow Haiti is in our hands."
