Haiti - Elections : Nearly one hundred religious leaders gathered by Minister Raina Forbin

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC), through its Directorate General of Religious Affairs, organized a presentation and dialogue meeting on the launch of the electoral process, bringing together nearly one hundred religious leaders and representatives of the country's various religious denominations.

During this important meeting, Raina Forbin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, and Jacques Desrosiers, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), emphasized the crucial role of religious leaders in promoting civic participation and supporting the electoral process.

A presentation of the Electoral Decree outlined the main provisions of the legal framework governing the upcoming elections and provided an opportunity to discuss with participants their role in raising citizen awareness, promoting civic engagement, and strengthening voter participation.

"Religious leaders are essential partners of the State," said Desrosiers. "Through their close ties with citizens and their moral authority, they have a crucial role to play in promoting peace, dialogue, citizen participation, and the trust essential to the success of the electoral process," stated Minister Raina Forbin.

This initiative, which will continue in the various departments of the country, reflects the Government’s commitment to mobilizing religious leaders as partners in the electoral process in order to contribute to holding free, credible, transparent, and peaceful elections and to foster a lasting return to constitutional order.
