Massacre in Kenscoff At least 61 people, including 14 children, were killed in attacks carried out by armed gangs between July 4 and 9, 2026, in Kenscoff and Pétion-Ville. The information, relayed on July 16 by the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, is based on data from Haitian human rights organizations. The victims were killed while trying to flee, either from their homes or on the roads, with the majority of cases recorded in the Robin area. Political Parties : Registration Extended The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) announces that, at the request of several political organizations, the registration period for political groups has been extended until July 31, 2026, inclusive. Thus, registered political parties wishing to form political alliances have an extension to submit their registration documents to the central office of the electoral commission in Pétion-Ville, from Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Consequently, the registration of political alliances is postponed to the period of August 10-14, 2026. Health : Donation of More Than Ten Computers With the support of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) donated more than ten computers to the Directorate of Family Health, Ministry of Public Health, primarily intended for use by health institutions and Departmental Health Directorates. This equipment will be used to strengthen their institutional capacities and improve surveillance for monitoring and evaluating the national strategy to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B. Northern Electoral Lists : Registration Opens On Wednesday, July 15, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), through the Northern Departmental Electoral Office (BED), announced the opening of voter registration. Registration will take place at the Cap-Haitien Vocational School, located in Cité Lescot, starting at 8:00 a.m. Citizens wishing to register must present their original National Identification Card. The number of displaced people continues to rise In June, the number of displaced people continued to rise in the West and Artibonite departments due to ongoing violence, including 5,000 new displaced people in Cité Soleil. In Hinche, in the Central department, 1,491 displaced people, many of whom had been sleeping on the floor without privacy in overcrowded schools, were relocated to a new temporary transit center managed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This initiative improved their living conditions and was made possible thanks to the support of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and the Joint Regional Humanitarian Fund for Haiti. Through the Logistics Cluster, IOM received relief items from its warehouse in Panama to assist 5,000 families. These items will be distributed by local partners to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most. FHF : FIFA Connect Training The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) organized a training session dedicated to FIFA Connect, the global data management platform for football stakeholders developed by FIFA. Bringing together more than 75 participants in person and via videoconference, this session presented the main features of FIFA Connect, including the assignment of a unique identifier (FIFA ID) to players, coaches, referees, officials, clubs, and academies, ensuring reliable, secure, and harmonized data management.
