Concrete action for the benefit of vulnerable Haitian families

Monday April 13, 2026, Marc-Elie Nelson Minister of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), at the initiative of the Social Assistance Fund (CAS), organized a major solidarity activity with the aim of supporting vulnerable elderly people and those living with a disability.

During this activity, the Minister praised the efforts of Jhonny Raphaël Director General of the CAS, for this initiative which is part of the strengthening of social security and social appeasement in the country. The event was marked by several concrete actions, including:

• The distribution of 13,600 allowance checks to beneficiaries, including 3,600 new registrants.

• The deployment of a mobile clinic allowing more than 5,000 people living nearby to benefit from health care and medical monitoring.

The Minister recognizes that, despite the difficulties and the scale of the needs, these actions represent a rapid response to the social emergency of disadvantaged populations.

Furthermore, the Minister took the opportunity to announce the preparation of the appointment of around 600 contract workers within the CAS, many of whom have more than 15 years of service without ever having been appointed.

For his part, the Director of the CAS indicated that the institution will put in place new systems to facilitate the monthly receipt of checks by beneficiaries. He also announced the intention to integrate new beneficiaries, particularly in accommodation centers, in order to allow more people to benefit from state assistance. In addition, he specified that, in the near future, the CAS will distribute checks to people and activists who have already submitted grant requests.
