Haiti - Justice : The process of setting up of CSPJ advance...

On the sidelines of the commemorative activities of the January 12, 2010, Michel Brunache, the new Minister of Justice and Public Security declared that the process of setting up of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ) advance "...the process initiated since 2005 advance, there is a law that was approved in late 2007, there is a certification process for some members of CSPJ which is almost complete and we have already separated the budget of CSPJ of the budget 2011-2012 of Ministry, so it's a process that is progressing well [...]"

The Minister also mentioned the situation of justice in Haiti, and the many problems that must be addressed before a true rule of law in our country "...there are deficiencies that everyone can admit, we know that the system is sick ; there is especially a problem of human resources, there are not enough judges ; there are infrastructure problems ; there are also administrative problems, ie that decisions are slow ; there are administrative followed that are not made at the level of penitentiary centers ; there are also cases of arbitrary arrests that are made​, whether by police, by the judges of Peace or even by the Government Commissioner... we must address all these things to have a rule of law in the country..."
