Haiti - Transportation : Sunrise Airways opens a new regional hub in the Dominican Republic

Haitian airline Sunrise Airways has announced the expansion of its regional network from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The first flights to Antigua and Tortola will begin in early March, reflecting its commitment to enhanced Caribbean connectivity.

Santo Domingo (SDQ) will be connected twice a week to Antigua (Tuesdays and Saturdays) and twice a week to Tortola (Thursdays and Sundays), using a 30-seat Embraer 140 aircraft operated by its subsidiary, Sunrise Airways Dominicana, which has been certified since 2019.

Since 2012, Sunrise Airways has progressively developed a regional network connecting Caribbean capitals and islands with shared economic, cultural, and tourism ties. The airline carried nearly 1.85 million passengers between Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Les Cayes, Jérémie, Santo Domingo, Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Camagüey, Guadeloupe, Panama City, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Providenciales, and Saint Maarten.

Since its expansion into the Lesser Antilles in May 2024, Sunrise Airways now also connects Antigua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, and Saint Lucia, supporting the airline's vision of a more integrated region under its "One Caribbean" concept.

This new connection from the Dominican Republic is part of Sunrise Airways' broader strategy to continue expanding inter-Caribbean links, promoting tourism, business travel, and bringing together regional communities who live and work across the region.
