Les Cayes : New Chief of Prosecution Office

Pierre Wilner Dormevil has been appointed Chief of Prosecution Office in Les Cayes, replacing Pierre Elioth Paul, who was transferred as Deputy Government Commissioner to Cap-Haïtien. The new Commissioner promises to strengthen the local judicial system and firmly address the physical and land insecurity affecting the region.

USA : Bipartisan Bill for Haiti

Two U.S. Congressional representatives have introduced a bipartisan bill aimed at pushing the Trump administration to develop a specific and harmonized strategy to address the disintegration of the Haitian state. The proposal, entitled the Strategy to Address Key Priorities Affecting Security and Empowerment in Haiti Act of 2025, was introduced in the House of Representatives by Democrat Gregory Meeks, leader of his party on the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Republican Greg Murphy, representative of North Carolina.

St-Marc : New Chief Commissioner

Divisional Superintendent Caleb Exantus, Departmental Director of the Artibonite Police, installed Chief Commissioner Jean Jude Chery as head of the Saint-Marc police station. Chief Superintendent Jean Jude Chery replaces Chief Commissioner Max Vital Altis in this position.

38 site managers made Aware

The Human Rights Section of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), with support from the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF), provided 38 site managers (50% women) with awareness training at 20 sites for internally displaced persons (IDPs) on reporting and responding to protection incidents.

Health : Basic Support for Repatriated Persons

With support from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO-Haiti), the Mental Health Unit of the Ministry of Public Health organized two training sessions in the Northeast for 64 multi-skilled community health workers and members of the Haitian National Police brigades. These trainings focused on psychological first aid to provide basic support to people repatriated from the Dominican Republic via the Ouanaminthe border crossing.

Training in Market Gardening

For about ten years, three nuns from the Jérémie region, in southwest Haiti, have been working with impoverished mountain populations by organizing agricultural training sessions. Despite difficult weather conditions and security uncertainties, they persist in teaching market gardening. They are also a sign of hope for the Haitian population overwhelmed by hardship. Sister Estine Jean Charles explains : "For the 2022 to 2025 cycle, due to insecurity, many families have sought refuge in the region. We now have 926 families benefiting from our projects."
