Haiti - FLASH : Official exams 2024-2025, death of two candidates (video)

On Friday, July 4th, 2025, during a review conference at the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Education, Yves Roblin, Director General of the Ministry, expressed his overall satisfaction with the conduct of the State examinations, of the 9th Fundamental Years, of the Family Education Center (CEF), and the Teacher Training College (ENIJE) for the 2024-2025 academic year.

According to Yves Roblin, the prototype of the intermediate exams was within the candidates' reach. He estimates that the exams were more than 80% successful in terms of security, despite the incidents in Lascahobas, in the Centre department, where exams were disrupted following an attack by heavily armed individuals from the "Viv ansanm" coalition. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-45260-icihaiti-lascahobas-the-official-exams-interrupted.html

Nevertheless, education authorities deplore the death, during these exams, of two students out of 187,000 candidates in the 9th Fundamental year. One candidate died at the Saint-Louis de Gonzague school in Delmas 33, following a seizure related to exam stress, and another was hit by a vehicle during the panic created by clashes between armed men in Lascahobas.
