Haiti - FLASH : UNESCO Transcultura Program, call for applications

UNESCO’s Transcultura Programme is calling for young entrepreneurs in the Caribbean hospitality and creative tourism sector.

The selected young people will have the opportunity to participate in the 15th edition of the World Tourism Event for World Heritage Destinations, which will be held from 12 to 14 September 2024 in Genoa, Italy.

Culture and creativity are essential pillars of sustainable tourism that benefits communities, preserves heritage and stimulates innovation. The Transcultura Programme: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity, implemented by UNESCO and funded by the European Union, invites young Caribbean entrepreneurs to present initiatives based on culture and creativity at the 15th edition of the World Tourism Event (WTE), a leading platform for the tourism promotion of World Heritage destinations.

Under this call, UNESCO’s Transcultura Programme will fully cover the cost of participation in WTE 2024, including accreditation to participate in the exhibition area, participation fees for the B2B workshop (with 45 buyers from Italy, France, Spain, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, USA and Australia) and all international mobility and accommodation costs in Genoa during WTE 2024.

Entrepreneurs who have launched a creative tourism business in or near World Heritage destinations are particularly encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to women-led businesses and entrepreneurs who run initiatives that allow tourists to experience local culture directly from locals by actively participating in artistic and creative activities, thus benefiting local communities.

The call is open to entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, aged 18 to 35, who are nationals and have permanent residence in one of the following 17 Caribbean countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, August 16, 2024, at 23:59 Havana time (UTC/GMT -5 hours) via the online application form: https://tinyurl.com/28aj6ndd
