Haiti - Security : The American Ambassador announces a significant increase in the number of armored vehicles
On Monday, July 22, 2024, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield announced that the U.S. Department of Defense would provide a "substantial increase" in the number of armored vehicles to the Kenyan-led, UN-backed multinational mission to assist the Haitian National Police (PNH) to combat widespread gang violence.
"We know that progress is not linear. There will inevitably be setbacks and obstacles, and yet this mission has opened the door to progress," Thomas-Greenfield said.
