Haiti - FLASH : The threat to Biden's conditional stay program, pushed back

Let's recall that the Biden Administration's Conditional Stay Program https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38566-haiti-flash-new-us-entry-program-for-haitian-migrants-conditions-and-steps-to-follow.html is the subject of legal action against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38700-haiti-new-migration-program-20-us-states-take-legal-action-against-the-dhs.html filed by 20 Republican-run US states (Texas, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas , Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming), which demand the end of this program which they consider illegal.

The decision of conservative judge Drew Tipton of the Court for the Southern District of Texas, which was expected on June 13, has been postponed. The two parties (the 20 American states and the DHS) have agreed to set a new date for the communication of supporting documents on September 29, which could give a verdict on the fate of this program no earlier than October 2023 according to the informed observers…

In the meantime, nothing has changed, the program is running as normal and refugee support organizations are keeping up the pressure for the program to continue.
