Haiti - Dom. Republic : 31,810 illegal Haitians return to Haiti in one month

The latest report (April 2023) from the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GARR) reveals that 31,810 men, women and children have returned to Haiti (repatriated by teams from the Dominican General Directorate of Migration (DGM), returned to the border or returned "voluntarily")

Repatriation by Dominican migration services: 15,973 compatriots:

Repatriation through the official border crossings: Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe, amounted to 12,726 compatriots:

Men (71.81%); women (23.8%) and minors, boys and girls, (5.72%).

Repatriation through unofficial border crossings: Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel) amounted to 3,247 compatriots:

Men (50.78%), women (20.08%) and minor boys and girls (29.13%).

Turn back at the border: 4,425 compatriots:

Refoulement through the official border crossings (Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe) amount to 3,021 compatriots:

Men (55.27%), women (41.77%) and minor boys and girls (5.3%)

Turn back through unofficial border crossings: Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel), amount to 1,332 compatriots:

Men (47.59%), women (23.34%) and minor boys and girls (29.05%)

"Spontaneous" or "voluntary" returns from our compatriots: 11,412

"Spontaneous" returns through the official border crossings (Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe) amount to 7,582 compatriots:

Men (50.36%), women (38.69%) and minors, boys and girls, (10.93%)

"Spontaneous" returns via unofficial border crossings: Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel), amount to 3,830 compatriots:

Men (43.42%), women (31.80%) and minors, boys and girls, (24.77%)

Pregnant women:

Repatriated: 112

Spontaneous returns: 70

Turned back: 39

Total: 221

Unaccompanied Minors:

Repatriated: 189

Spontaneous returns: 474

Turned back: 59

Total: 722

Notes :

The Memorandum of Understanding on repatriation and so many other tools for the protection of migrants signed by Haiti and the Dominican Republic are not respected in any way. The GARR observes more and more cases of intolerable excesses on the part of Dominican migration.
