Haiti - Dom. Republic : Nearly 24,500 illegal Haitians return to Haiti in one month

The latest report (February 2023) from the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GARR) reveals that 24,428 men, women and children have returned to Haiti (repatriated by Dominican migration services, voluntarily returned or turned back at the border).

Repatriation by Dominican migration services: 13,090 compatriot s:

Repatriation through the official border crossings: Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe, amounted to 10,695 compatriots :

Men (81.89%); women (11.25%) and minors, boys and girls, (6.84%).

Repatriation through unofficial border crossings : Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel) amounted to 2,395 compatriots :

Men (47.89%), women (24.75%) and minor boys and girls (27.34%).

Refoulement at the border: 3,119 compatriots:

Turned back through official border crossings amount to 2,122 compatriots :

Men (60.40%), women (34.77%) and minor boys and girls (4.75%)

Turned back through unofficial border crossings amount to 997 compatriots :

Men (45.63%), women (26.98%) and minor boys and girls (27.38%)

"Spontaneous" or "voluntary" returns of our compatriots : 8,219

"Spontaneous" returns through official border crossings amount to 5,941 compatriots:

Men (56.9%), women (32.85%) and minors, boys and girls, (6.86%)

"Spontaneous" returns through unofficial border crossings amount to 2,278 compatriots:

Men (46.66%), women (33.18%) and minors, boys and girls, (20.14%)

Pregnant women : 219

Repatriated : 128

Spontaneous returns : 71

Turned back : 20

Total 219

Unaccompanied minors : 331

Repatriated : 113

Spontaneous returns : 141

Turned back : 77

Notes :

The memorandum of understanding on repatriation and so many other tools for the protection of migrants signed in Haiti and the Dominican Republic are not respected in any way. The GARR observes more and more cases of intolerable excesses on the part of Dominican migration.
