Haiti - FLASH : The President of the Senate, injured in an attack by armed individuals

Sunday, January 8, 2023 in the morning, heavily armed individuals opened fire on the vehicle of the President of the Senate Joseph Lambert at the Bicentenaire roundabout not far from the former premises of Parliament.

Injured in the face by shards of glass, the Senator was not hiy by bullets according to available information.

Senator Lambert was rushed to a hospital in Port-au-Prince where he underwent an eye operation. According to the doctors, his vital prognosis is not engaged and he remains under observation.

Let's recall that Sunday at midnight, the mandate of the 10 remaining senators ended : Denis Cadeau, Jean Marie Ralph Féthière, Jean Rigaud Bélizaire, Garcia Delva, Joseph Lambert, Kédlaire Ausgustin, Patrice Dumont, Pierre François Sildor, Rony Célestin and Wanique Pierre. As of this day, there is no longer any elected member of the Government (deputies and senators) nor any mayor.
