Haiti - Dom. Republic : 5,248 illegal Haitians repatriated in one week

During the week of October 17 to 24, 2022, teams from the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) arrested and repatriated to Haiti 5,248 Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory situation, during simultaneous operations on the whole national territory.

550 Haitians were arrested in the municipality of Santo-Domingo Nord, mainly in the sectors of Buena Vista I and II, Los Marañones I and II, Jacobo Majluta Avenue, Residencial Beatitudes, Residencial San Rafael, Mama Tingó, Sabana Perdida, among others.

238 Haitians were arrested in the National District, and 506 in the municipality of Santo-Domingo East on Avenue Venezuela, Sabana Larga, Ensanche Ozama and Villa Duarte.

483 Haitians were arrested in Santo Domingo West in the neighborhoods of Las Caobas, El Enriquillo, El Olguin, Libertador and Buenos Aires, without any document accrediting them as legal foreigners in the Dominican Republic.

1,183 Haitians in an irregular migration situation were arrested in Santiago de los Caballeros Nord (1,031 men, 152 women) in the neighborhoods of Los Ciruelito, Cien Fuegos, Monte Rico, Ensanche Mella I, City Center, among others...

2,288 Haitians were arrested in La Vega, Dajabón, Elías Pineapple, Jimaní, Pedernales and Azua.

The DGM stresses that these operations will continue in order to "restrict the entry and presence on the national territory" of illegal migrants and prevent unscrupulous people with a criminal record from trying to come and disturb peace and tranquility on the Dominican territory."
