Haiti - FLASH : Violence by migration agents against a Haitian (Video)

A viral video on social networks showing Dominican soldiers from the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) hitting a compatriot with a chain and a stick, revolts and stirs up excitement among Internet users.

The DGM made aware of this video, which is investigating this incident explains in a press release "[...] the foreign citizen, apparently a Haitian immigrant, allegedly resisted arrest during a routine immigration check and assaulted soldiers [...]"..

A Dominican version intended to minimize the incident and of which there is little reason to doubt, given the racism of certain ultra-nationalist Dominicans and the history of incidents which have already occurred in the past to the detriment of our compatriots, without however generalize it.

The DGM specifies that its agents "[...] must respect immigration regulations and observe absolute respect for human rights" but specifies that it will not accept foreigners disrespecting or attacking agents of immigration who are in the exercise of their functions. Explanations that do not justify the reaction of the agents in the video.

The DGM affirms that it will not tolerate the violation of the human rights of immigrants and that this is an isolated incident which is currently the subject of a thorough investigation that there will be consequences and sanctions for the people involved...

In Haiti, the chancellery remains silent on this appalling incident.

To be continued...
