Haiti - USA : Young Ambassadors Program, open recruitment

Recruitment for the "Youth Ambassadors Program" for Haiti is officially open.

Remember that the Young Ambassadors Program brings together high school students and adult mentors from the Americas to foster mutual understanding, increase their leadership skills, and prepare young people to make a difference in their community.

Exchange groups come mainly from Latin America and the Caribbean to the United States, but also from United States delegations to a selected country. Participants attend workshops, community service activities, teamwork, meetings with community leaders, and homestays with American families. Upon their return, students apply what they have learned and implement projects that meet the needs of their communities.

N.B.: For Haiti, the Young Ambassadors program will be entirely in French

Young applicant requirements:

  • Be between 15 and 18 years old;

  • Be in Secondary III (Rheto) at most, in July 2022;

  • Demonstrate potential in leadership and community participation;

  • Having traveled very little in the United States or abroad;

  • Have permission from a parent/legal guardian to participate in the local program in Haiti;

  • Participants must have been vaccinated against COVID-19 before starting the program.

Requirements for Mentor Candidates:

  • Be a citizen and resident of Haiti, and particularly live in Port-au-Prince;

  • Have worked actively with young people in schools or in a community setting;

  • Be willing and able to meet periodically with young people after the exchange to support the implementation of community engagement projects;

  • Participants must have been vaccinated against COVID-19 before starting the program.

    This exchange program will take place in July 2022

    The activities will take place either in two weeks of face-to-face exchange in the United States or in a virtual format, online, for four weeks in Haiti. Program format is subject to change after consultation with the U.S. Department of State.

    Regular updates will be posted as they become available.
