Haiti - Insecurity : «Fantôme 509» releases by force 4 police officers imprisoned at the Delmas 33 police station

Wednesday on the sidelines of the Port-au-Prince demonstration, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33264-haiti-flash-violence-vandalism-and-looting-in-port-au-prince.html more than a hundred individuals claiming to be part of the "Fantôme 509" group, some hooded and heavily armed, accompanied by uniformed "police offciers" and members of the PNH unions, radical opposition activists and sympathizers, went to the Delmas 33 police station to demand the release of 4 police officers arrested, according to them unjustly, on the sidelines of a demonstration in Miragoâne in January 2021.

The demonstrators visibly ready for anything, issued an ultimatum for the release of their colleagues, maintaining tension for nearly an hour between the demonstrators and the police entrenched in the police station... suggesting to the media that they could become violent if they did not get their releases... They burned tires on the yard of the police station and vandalized a State vehicle

Finally, armed individuals from the "Fantôme 509" group, accompanied by "police officers" in uniform, broke into the police station and released their 4 colleagues without encountering any resistance from the police officers at the police station. A release applauded by protesters and many shots in the air.
