Dr Patrick Dély, head of the Department of epidemiology, laboratory and research of the Ministry of Public Health, said that Haiti now had a capacity of 2,000 tests and 40 machines that could perform more than 500 tests per day. He also said that the Ministry had ordered 13,000 tests for laboratory machines with the capacity to perform 7,000 tests per month.

However, between the ability to test and the implementation of more frequent and more numerous screenings, the gap remains very large. In the ranking of "Worldometer" of April 6, 2020, on the number of tests for control of the Covid-19 coronavirus, carried out by millions of inhabitants, Haiti ranks last with 22 tests per million inhabitants on 16 Caribbean countries and Latin America. The first to rank is Chile, which performs 2,870 tests per million inhabitants.

Our Dominican neighbor ranks 9th with 419 tests per million inhabitants.
