Haiti - Social : More than 200 young at the summer camp of the Dadadou Sports Center

Once again this year, the Dadadou Sports Center welcomes around 200 girls and boys as part of its traditional summer camp. Through this initiative, the center's managers intend to occupy the free time of young people while associating recreation with training.

Football, basketball, volleyball, handball, ballooning, checkers' games are the main sports activities designed to help them express their talent, develop the competitive spirit of young people while teaching them how to cultivate respect for the opponent.

In addition to these activities, there are craft workshops and talks on the environment, life skills, hygiene, citizenship and leadership skills. Macramé, floral and banéco workshops introduce young people to income-generating activities. Participants learn the taste and value of work while cultivating discipline.

Despite its limited resources, the summer camp of the Dadadou Sports Center continues to successfully meet its mission to support the young people of Delmas and the surrounding areas. Thanks to the support of technicians from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, young people are mentored and encouraged to work to unlock their full potential.

Edwing Charles, the Minister of Youth, is convinced that these few weeks of summer camp activities will help young people to be more attentive during the school year and that the concepts learned will be used to improve their self-esteem and respect for others in a spirit of tolerance.
