Haiti - FLASH : Message of President Moïse to the Nation

Saturday evening, on the airwaves of the State Television (TNH), after more than 24 hours of silence, President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by his wife Martine in a message to the Nation declared "You sent me the message and I got it. I corrected what needed to be corrected [...] I asked the Government to reconsider the decision to withdraw subsidies on the prices of petroleum products. The Prime Minister did it. The price of fuel remains what it was before, throughout the national territory. There is no longer an increase in gas prices [...] now I ask you to stay calm and go home," criticizing those who run the country with him, he believes that the officials have poorly communicated on the importance of a gas price adjustment justifying "I know that it is to me that you gave the power, but I can not run alone. I have to have a lot of people around me before making a decision."

Message to the Nation of President Moïse :

A message to the Nation intervening some hours after Prime Minister Lafontant under street and political pressure announced on his twitter account the suspension of the fuel price adjustment measure at the pump until further notice https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24889-haiti-flash-the-government-suspend-its-decision.html shortly after the 2-hour ultimatum issued by the Speaker of the Lower House, Deputy Gary Bodeau to reverse this decision, threatening "If there is no response within two hours, the Government will be considered as resigning and as early as Monday morning, Parliament will take the necessary steps..."

Earlier in the day Lafontant and members of the National Police Superior Council (CSPN) also addressed the Nation on the TNH, Lafontant called on the population to patience and try to end the social disorders.
