Tuesday the second consecutive day of demonstration of high school students of Petit-Goâve https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23671-haiti-education-schools-and-high-schools-paralyzed-in-petit-goave.html took place in the violence.

All started around 9:00 am when Faustin Soulouque High School students asked the pupils of Collège Pierre Baptiste, a school near the Lycée, to join them in their protest movement... Visibly disagree and without anyone knowing who began a violent clash between college students and high school students who threw stones blocking all traffic for nearly an hour on the road to La Hatte.

Violence that has resulted in victims on both sides. In the camp of high school students, a wounded was reported, a student of NS2 received hit of a stone in the head while the students of college Pierre Baptiste, according to the director of this institution, Yves Duclair, 2 female students have been wounded, one to the ear and the other to the face were transported to the hospital. A dozen other students received stones added the Director who welcomed the intervention of Police Commissioner Zamor John Joseph who intervened in person to restore calm.

Around 10:00 am Faustin high school students took the road to La Hatte and forced the premature dismissal of students, many college students came to reinforce the protest. All claiming the resumption of classes in the classroom because of the strike of the teachers who demand payment of their salary arrears and letter of appointment, the students walked slowly on National Road # 2 under a blazing sun. They forced the driver of a soft drink truck to stand in the middle of the road to obstruct traffic. An incident occurred at La Hatte when a youth from the area attacked a schoolboy with a machete. The aggressor was quickly controled.

Then they continued on their way to Tapion where they again blocked the road, near the sub-station, by means of a trailer. At the bottom of Tapion, the situation degenerated, the students forbid any car traffic. Some on the mountain threw stones at cars trying to cross the roadblock.

Police Commissioner Zamor John Joseph intervened on his own and tried to clear the road by avoiding throwing stones. Although he is armed, he did not use his weapon to avoid aggravating the situation. Two vehicles managed to pass including a truck belonging to a bank that started at a brisk pace by firing shots.

The inhabitants of Bas Tapion condemned the behavior of the students who targeted the Police Commissioner, who in this situation, according to the testimonies, showed a great mastery and a great professionalism not to provoke victims, facing aggressive and very determined high school students...
