Haiti - Culture : President Moïse officially opens Carnival 2018

Sunday at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his wife Martine and Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, in the presence of members of the Government, the Organizing Committee of the Carnival, the Mayor of Port-au-Prince Ralph Youri Chevry and various actors evolving in the Haitian cultural world, officially opened the National Carnival 2018 around the theme "Ayiti sou wout chanjman".

wished that these carnival festivities be realized in peace and harmony and took the opportunity to welcome the King and the Queen of Carnival who spoke on behalf of all the other Kings and Queens who will parade at the Champ de Mars in Port-au-Prince the 11th, 12th and 13th of February 2018.

"Ayiti sou wout chanjman", we will say in the short term that we have progressed well on this course which seemed difficult, because we believed it, that we believe in it, that the best will come first of all from us, that nothing and no one will distract us from what we have decided to do with our country which is and will remain the country of all beginnings," declared the Head of State.

President Moïse believes that this great showcase of carnival festivities must be fully exploited to sell a positive image of the country favorable to its economic development and appealed to all carnivals participants to reject violence on the occasion of this event.
