Haiti - FLASH : Amending budget submitted to Parliament vote

This Tuesday the deputies and senators are expected in extraordinary National Assembly to vote on amending budget. According to Lucien Jura, spokesman for the Head of State, the budget has gone from 122 billion (Jocelerme Privert's transition budget) to 118 billion Gourdes (118,380,130,650). This amending budget will remain in force until 30 September, pending the submission of the regular budget for the next financial year.

To finance this amending budget, the Government expects to collect slightly more than 71 billion domestic revenues (customs, duties, taxes) and just over 32 billion Gourdes in donations and international support (budget support 4,6 billion Gdes and aid to projects of 27.7 billion Gdes), the remainder being completed by borrowing from financial institutions to the tune of 3 billion Gdes.

75 billion of the budget is devoted to the functioning of the State (current expenditure) and just over 42 billion go to investment.

In this amending budget, the priority envelopes are: Education 21 billion (18%); Public works 17 billion; Justice 10.6 billion; Agriculture 7.5 billion; Finance 7 billion and Health 5.2 billion.

The Presidency has an envelope of 1.2 billion Gdes, the Primature 1.7 billion Gdes. The legislative power has a total budget of 4.1 billion Gdes (Senate 1.8 and Chamber of Deputies 2.3) and the judiciary 1.0 billion Gdes.
