Haiti - NOTICE : D-2, Restrictive Security Measures

"The General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) informs the population that to ensure the smooth running of the polling day on Sunday 29 January, some restrictive measures will be taken from Saturday 28 January from 6:00 p.m. until Monday 30 January at midnight throughout the country.

This notice concerns the following measures :

1 - Suspension of all firearms licenses and prohibition of movement with sharp, blunt or any other weapons by destination. Private security companies will have to take over on site to avoid any movement of weapons on the public road ;

2.- Prohibition to unauthorized motorists and motorcyclists to approach the Voting Centers, the Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) and the Communal Bureaux (BEC);

3.- Prohibition on the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages;

4.- Prohibition to nightclubs from functioning.

Any offender caught in the act will be arrested, stripped of the object prohibited and brought to justice for legal consequences.

The Directorate General of the National Police of Haiti rely on the collaboration of all for the full respect of these provisions."
