Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and other members of the "Core Group" (the Ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, Spain, France, United States of America, the European Union and the Special Representative of the Organization of American States) take note of the presentation of the electoral calendar https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17658-haiti-flash-electoral-timetable-2016-2017-official.html by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) following consideration by the latter of the report of the Independent Electoral Evaluation and Verification Commission.

"The 'Core Group' remains deeply concerned that the decision to rerun the Presidential elections will have financial consequences and prolong the electoral process started in 2015. The 'Core Group' reiterates that it is the responsibility of an elected government to address the socio-economic and humanitarian challenges Haiti is facin

Reiterating that Haiti urgently needs to have elected representatives at all levels, the 'Core Group' urges all Haitian actors to scrupulously respect the electoral calendar to organize transparent and equitable elections in an impartial manner, enabling Haitians to elect the President of Republic, parliamentary representatives and municipal and local authorities, as provided for by the Haitian Constitution.

To this end, the 'Core Group' calls on all Haitian authorities responsible for the organization of the elections, in particular the CEP and the Government, as well as the political and socio-economic actors, to work toward the completion of the electoral process begun in 2015, in accordance with the deadlines and modalities announced."
