Haiti - Economy : More than 17 billion Gdes in taxes already collected

Monday, at a press conference, Miradin Morlan, the holder of the General Tax Directorate (DGI) announced "the DGI has already collected more than 17 billion gourdes [68%] of 25 billion expected at the beginning of year fiscal 2014-2015," stating that this amount does not take into account the taxes collected by the different directorates and tax centers in provincial towns, whose reports are expected shortly.

The General Director of the DGI also announced that new software will be operational shortly at the DGI, which will increase the security level of revenue and ensure a more rational management of taxes. Stressing that with this new software, taxpayers can also make payments by bank transfer "The downloading of the final tax declaration form will be available to any taxpayer with Internet access. At theGeneral Tax Directorate, we intend to simplify the system and tax procedures."

Miradin Morlan indicated that the DGI had already done much work in the provincial cities to collect more taxes and provide better services to taxpayers "Hinche and Cap Haitien have already been computerized. At the end of the month, the DGI will inaugurate a new building in Mirebalais, as it has just done in Marigot in the southeast, "adding that the efforts of decentralization and interconnection, made at DGI level throughout the national territory, give convincing results.

Recall that the DGI has been created by the Law of June 6th 1924, published in No. 46 of "Le Moniteur" on Thursday, June 12, 1924, under the presidency of Louis Borno, and the DGI celebrated his 91st birthday last Saturday.
